Most people don’t know that the average person takes 8,000 steps per day. That is a lot of pressure on your feet. Due to busy schedules, foot health has become an increasingly important part of our daily lives.
The Foot Bone’s Connected to the . . . Neck Bone?
Your feet are the foundation of your body. They support you when you stand, walk, or run. They help protect your spine, bones, and soft tissues from damaging stress as you move around. Your feet perform better when all their muscles, arches, and bones are in their ideal stable positions.
Your feet have direct impact on the rest of your body. Even a small abnormality in foot function can have a big impact on your other joints, causing pain and discomfort.
When you are running, the pressure on your feet can be three or four times your body weight. Even walking can be tough on your feet. Discomfort and strain on your feet can lead to pain in other areas of the body, including your ankles, knees, hips, back, shoulders, and neck.
Help is Only Two Feet Away
Each individual’s feet interact differently with the ground, which affects the use of joints, muscles, and tendons in the foot. By stabilizing and balancing your feet, custom made orthotics enhance your body’s performance and efficiency, reduce pain, and contribute to your total body wellness.
Conducting a thorough biomechanical analysis and custom fitting will allow us to produce the ideal orthotics for you. Custom orthotics are biomechanical medical appliances that are made to correct your specific foot imbalance. Therefore, they are covered by most extended health insurance plans.

How Do Orthotics Work?
The biomechanical properties of a Custom Foot Orthotic is to ensure that the normal position of the bones, joints and muscles of the low back, ankle, foot and knee are maintained. Just imagine how many times your foot strikes the ground and the force that is given of from the ground into the bones, muscles and nerves into the foot, ankle, low back and knee– this is called shock absorption.
When your Chiropractor designs a custom fit orthotic, it will be made with functional correction that is specific to the structure of your foot. This will ensure that your foot will be aligned correctly during walking, standing and running.
A custom fit orthotic can be the answer you have been searching for many years!
How are Orthotics Fitted?
At Oakville Injury & Pain Relief Center, we only use the best form of technology to correctly diagnose your complaint. Patients undergo a detailed history, physical exam and an in-depth biomechanical gait analysis. After all testing is complete, a foam cast of the foot is taken and then sent to the lab for construction. The finished product is then shipped back for a turn-around time of 10-14 days.
